As the Fraud Director at Bitso, your primary responsibility is to lead and enhance our fraud prevention, detection, and investigation strategies across the organization. You will work cross-functionally to identify fraud risks, develop countermeasures, and implement effective governance processes to protect our customers and the integrity of our platform. This is a high-impact role that will directly contribute to making cryptocurrency a safe and trustworthy financial solution in Latin America and beyond. Who You Are

Duties & Responsibilities

Strategic thinker with 10+ years of experience in fraud prevention, detection, and investigation in financial services, fintech, or cryptocurrency. Proven track record of developing and implementing effective fraud prevention strategies. Adept at navigating regulatory environments and managing relationships with regulatory bodies. Skilled in leveraging data and technology to detect and mitigate fraud risks. Experience in conducting fraud risk assessments and developing action plans to address identified risks. Leader who can drive cross-functional collaboration and inspire teams to take proactive steps against fraud. Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data sets and make data-driven decisions. Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to convey complex information clearly to stakeholders. Entrepreneurial mindset with the ability to adapt quickly to a fast-paced environment. Experience managing and mentoring fraud prevention teams, fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement. Familiarity with emerging fraud trends and the ability to stay ahead of industry developments. Lead cross-functional projects to manage risks and ensure timely completion of fraud detection and prevention initiatives. Oversee the development of anti-fraud strategies and policies to protect Bitso’s clients and their assets. Manage ad-hoc projects including research, reporting, and implementing governance measures specific to operations. Create and execute a Fraud Prevention Strategy, including partnerships with external fraud detection services and overseeing vendor onboarding to enhance services. Collaborate closely with legal, compliance, and tech teams to align anti-fraud measures with regulatory requirements and best practices. Manage budgets for fraud prevention technologies and services to optimize resources. Continuously analyze fraud trends affecting businesses and adapt strategies to mitigate emerging risks. Ensure the fraud team has the necessary tools, licenses, and training to effectively serve clients. Build strong relationships with clients, external partners, regulatory bodies, and law enforcement to stay ahead of fraud threats.
